Can I Use NMEA 2000 to Display Gauge Data on a Chart Plotter?

Question:

After watching your videos on NMEA 2000, I have a question. I live in Magog, Quebec, and purchased a 2022 Highfield Sport 520 with an offset center console. It is powered by a Yamaha VMAX 115, and has an integrated 100 liter gas tank, Garmin VHF215 AIS, Fusion RA770 stereo, SiriusXM, and a Garmin Echomap UHD 95SV. I was going to use a Yamaha 6YC as a display gauge but now I am considering adding an second Echomap 95SV with no transducer to act as the display gauge? - Mike

Answer:

Thanks for reaching out and glad to hear you have been enjoying the videos. Most newer engines can interface directly with a marine chartplotter over NMEA 2000 to provide engine data and gauges directly but need the use of a gateway to make the data “translatable” to the NMEA 200 network/chartplotters.

These gateways are sold and installed by the engine dealers in this case would recommend contacting Yamaha. https://support.garmin.com/en-CA/?faq=pOHPfnCMu5069YjSyF9Nu5
