Jeff Cote

Jeff Cote

Jeff combined his professional expertise with his passion for boating when he started Pacific Yacht Systems Inc. A systems design engineer (BASc), he graduated from the University of Waterloo, known for its excellence in technical education, and worked as a technical solutions consultant to a number of Fortune 500 companies.

Jeff is actively involved in the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) and is a member of its Certified Marine Electronics Technician development committee. As Western Canada's only NMEA instructor, he holds a NMEA advanced marine electronic installer certification; he also holds marine electrical certification through the American Boat and Yacht Council. Jeff is a certified installer of Raymarine and Garmin electronics.

Satori II, Jeff's Catalina 36MkI sailboat, is moored on the Sunshine Coast, ready to go whenever he has a chance. His favourite cruising grounds are Barkley Sound and the Broughton Archipelago.

Chris Allan

Chris Allan

Chris grew up boating in Muskoka, Ontario where he developed a love of antique boats, as well as driving speed boats for water ski shows. He comes to PYS with a wide variety of experience from film & television, drafting, sound design, manufacturing and craft brewery production to round it off. In his spare time, Chris can be found riding around the coast on his Vespa GTS, camping with his busy family, or just hanging out in local coffee shops with friends.

David Pierce

David Pierce

Dave brings 30 years of operations and management experience to Pacific Yacht Systems, having held senior roles in a diverse collection of technology-based industries in Vancouver ranging from industrial controls and audio/visual systems to video game development and computer animation.

Dave has been an avid boater his entire adult life. He’s owned numerous boats over the years, both sail and power. In the early days it was sail, extensively cruising our local waters, racing a wide variety of boats, and earning the CYA Advanced Cruising standard. Later in life he switched to power boating, owning several different cruising boats including his prized Danish Apollo 32. Dave is an active member of Burrard Yacht Club.

Eric Montpetit

Eric Montpetit

Eric is a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician with five year's experience in commercial and industrial buildings. He is currently completing his Marine Service Technician apprenticeship. Originally from Calgary, he has embraced the West Coast lifestyle by becoming a certified PADI divemaster and is looking forward to buying a boat and sailing around the world.

Gareth Marsden

Gareth Marsden

Gareth grew up in New Zealand and moved to Vancouver to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle in a big city. After completing his electrical apprenticeship, he spent five years working with Alloy Yachts in Auckland. Gareth enjoys sports of all kinds especially rugby, playing for Burnaby Lake and the BC Bears.

Lyle Pahl

Lyle Pahl

Although, Lyle grew up fishing and water skiing on fresh water, it was when he purchased an older cruiser to live on board while attending the University of Victoria that his love for boats and boating truly took hold. He lived aboard a series of boats, refurbishing each one, for 15 years before settling into a land based life to start a family.

During that time Lyle worked as an installer for a marine chandlery and operated as an independent marine electrician, being certified as a Marine Electrical Technician by ABYC in 2007. Lyle brings a wealth of boating experience and a dedication to detail in his work.

Lyle spends the majority of his time on the water working, sailing the waters of our coast with his family, or volunteering time with RCM-SAR.

Melissa Gervais

Melissa Gervais

Melissa grew up boating on Vancouver Island near Cowichan Bay and spent countless hours floating around the Gulf Islands watching killer whales. She graduated from the University of Victoria and has spent the last 30 years as a Corporate Administrator for both public and private companies as well as non-profit organizations. For five years she was a search and rescue volunteer with RCM-SAR and currently serves as a Director and fundraiser for the Strait of Georgia Marine Rescue Society. Melissa can be found cruising the local waters on her 34 foot power boat, As You Wish, with her big red dog.

Romeo Duenas

Romeo Duenas

Born and raised in the Philippines, Romeo graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and worked in a 300 megawatt, coal fired, power plant before moving to Canada in 1993.

In 1994, Romeo started working for Queenship Marine, which is renowned for building a 54 to 120 ft power yachts. Initially, he worked in the pairing department and after a few months was transferred to the electrical department where his expertise and passion grew. A few years later he received his BC electrical permit and was promoted to head electrician. After 10 years with Queenship he moved to Seascape, Richmond Yachts and Washington Yachting group, the company famous for the 330 ft Attessa 4 mega yacht.

With 2 decades of experience specializing in marine electrical and electronics, Romeo feels it has been a good transition to Pacific Yacht Systems and he is honoured to be part of a great team.

Romeo has a dream that someday he will build his own boat.

Scott Mackenzie

Scott Mackenzie

Scott entered the marine electronics industry after graduating from BCIT's Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program. He started in the marine industry doing computer, electrical, and navigation work on commercial tugboats, then took his broad range of experiences to PYS.

Scott holds NMEA 2000 and NMEA Advanced Marine Electronic Installer certifications, as well as Marine Electrical Certification through the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC).

He is also a certified installer and warranty serviceman of Garmin marine products.

Scott Tilley

Scott Tilley

Scott Tilley is a Certified Electrical Engineering Technologist that has developed a broad spectrum of experience in the electrical and electronics industry. Ranging from troubleshooting, system design, safety, advising on policy and technology management. Scott developed a wide breadth of experience in the marine industry working with a world-class West Coast builder of aluminum yachts and contributed to the company’s successful marriage of technology and form to make an outstanding and unique product.

Scott is an avid coastal sailor and can usually be found during his downtime teaching his two sons how to run a boat and completing the restoration of his 1980 MacGregor 25. He also finds time for astronomy and amateur radio.

Shayla-Lynn Lotnick

Shayla-Lynn Lotnick

Shayla recently relocated to Vancouver from Victoria BC where she spent most of her life. She is a graduate from Stelly’s Secondary, Camosun College and UBC Sauder School of Business and has a range of work experience including auto parts, nursing, and real estate. Her number one focus is client relations and she works hard to ensure your experience with PYS is enjoyable. She spends her evenings and weekends, camping, hiking, playing badminton, at the gym or reading a good book. Her passion is seeing new places and meeting new people.
