Are Battery Combiners Connected to the Battery Side or the Load Side?

Question:

My battery panel has two BEP DVSR's (digital voltage sensitive relay), the World Cat wiring diagram shows them connecting to the switched side of each of the two starting battery switches then both connecting to the unswitched side of the house battery switch. From what you say thats wrong, correct? - James

Answer:

Good catch, battery combiners should only be connected to the battery side and not the load side of battery switches. If one side of the battery combiner measures a charging voltage, it will allow voltage to be shared to another side of the combiner and effectively bypassing the switch. In other words, even with the battery switch off, you could still have voltage on the load side of the switch because the battery combiner is enabled due to a charging voltage. Discuss this with World Cat and find out what they say?
