hi  jeff cote here with ask pys so we've got  a question from a fellow boarder john  john asks jeff i've got a 28 foot well  craft  and with a hard top the kids like to  jump off the roof but i would like to  install solar panels  i heard that you can glue them to the  fiberglass roof can you stand on them  okay good question all right first of  all  yes it is possible to mount flexible  solar panels that are  glued to your hard top  but there's a big butt you need to have  few things one of them is that solar  panels cannot bridge  any gap so when you're gluing those  solar panels if you're going to walk on  them  the surface beneath the solar panel  before you glue it has to be  perfectly perfectly smooth so if you've  got anti-skid up there and you've got  dimples every i don't know four or five  millimeters apart  you cannot walk on a solar panel that  has actually anti-skid  beneath it it needs to be the solar  panel needs to be glued on a  perfectly perfectly smooth surface  condition number one condition number  two  a wet flexible solar panel  which has a extremely smooth epoxy  finish on it  is basically an ice rink and you should  never ever ever ever walk on that solar  panel  because if you do and if your feet are  even even remotely wet you will  definitely  fall it's an ice rink so what we do when  we actually install solar panels that  are flexible and we're going to install  them on a surface  we actually buy them with sort of an  etch surface  meaning that surface is actually roughed  roughened up  so that when you step on that panel  you're not going to slip  so if you're going to install a flexible  solar panel  on a hard top and you want to be able to  walk on top of it  make sure a that the surface beneath it  is perfectly smooth so that when you  glue the panel  the panel does not have any gaps beneath  it  and second make sure that this solar  panel  was purchased with an etch surface or an  anti-skid surface  so that it's not slippery when wet  thank you for watching this pys video if  you've got further questions  ask them down below or go on our website  to fill one of the forms  also support to keep this youtube  channel  ad free by donating on paypal or  purchasing some merchandise on our store  don't forget to subscribe and thanks for  watching  English (auto-generated)  Videolytics      Tools
