When I Turn Off the Boat, I Lose All the Memory on the Stereo?

Question:

Every time I leave the boat overnight, I turn off my battery bank. This disconnects the stereo system which resets all the memories and settings. Without hooking it up to the unswitched distribution bus, are there other options? Separate small battery with a diode to prevent current from going back onto the bus? - Denise

Answer:

Excellent question, your stereo should be have two power connections, one for unswitched power and the other for switched power. Based on your description below, sounds like both power connections are on the switched side of power. Only way to solve this problem is too probably rewire the stereo deck.
