Float Voltage with Temp Sensor Compensation

Question:

Hi Jeff,  I have a Freedom charger constantly at 13.75 volts in float with 4 AGM battery bank. Temp in engine room maybe 50F. Charger is set for AGM (fast blinking red light when in battery type setup mode). Normal? Float voltage a function of temp? Worried I may be over charging.  - Jamey

Answer:

Hi Jamey, the Freedom inverter/charger is has a temp sensor input. Disconnect temp sensor plug at inverter/charger and see if the float voltage setting changes after a period of time. Remember that charge voltage increases as temperature lowers, and corollary charge voltage lowers as temperature increases.  - Jeff
