Correct Wire Size for Solar on My Boat?

In choosing the correct wire gauge from my solar panel to the controller. Do I consider the length only one way (solar panel to controller) or include length back to solar panel (solar panel, to controller and back to solar panel)?  - Chris

Good question, when sizing a wire for voltage drop, you always want to include the return path as well. - Jeff
