Charging an AGM Battery with a Stock Alternator

Question:

One question, I was told that if I use AGM batteries that the alternator on my Yamaha will not supply them properly and they will die prematurely. Is that true?  - Dennis

Answer:

Hi Dennis, as a fellow boat owner, you’ve probably realized that everything on a boat is about compromises. Your stock alternator won’t overcharge your AGM batteries but slightly undercharge them. Get a good AGM compatible battery charger and frequently recharge your AGM batteries with the battery charger.  - Jeff
