Can I Install a Switch Between My House and Starter to Choose Which Battery My Single Solar Panel Charges?

Question:

I have two battery banks (starter & house) and one solar panel. Can I install a switch to be able to choose which battery bank receives the charge? If so, what type/kind of switch would you recommend? - Brent

Answer:

In this case, I would recommend installing an ACR. This automatic combiner will see the charge voltage of any given battery rise and connect the two together to share the charge and disconnect once the charge source is gone.

This saves having to remember to switch between the two batteries possibly resulting in a dead starter battery while on the water.
