Bill had to manouevre his Bayliner 3818, Scampi, very carefully to get it in and out of his space in the marina. It was a tight squeeze, and he had strong currents to contend with, so he decided to have a stern thruster installed, to make mooring much easier. He approached Pacific Yacht Systems, who installed the appropriate system.

PYS came within the budget and timelines they gave at the start of the job, states Bill. Everything went according to plan.

This installation was particularly important to him because he frequently operates the boat singlehandedly. “The thruster works just as it’s supposed to,” says Bill.

Q: I have a friend that is trying to get 12V from a 36V battery bank (i.e. he has six 6V batteries in series). He needs to get 12V for a heated vest (an accessory). Is there a diode or some contraption I could use after two batteries, and pull 12V from the bank? We would use one of the Newmar DC to DC converters, but they're out of his price range. Do you have any ideas?
