The PYS Story

Once upon a time… Jeff bought a sailboat. Although it had passed survey, he quickly found out that its electrical and electronics systems were sub-par. Something had to be done.

Jeff knew what he wanted. He was looking for:

  • Somebody who would understand his boating needs
  • A professional relationship based on client service
  • An integrated system rather than off-the-shelf components.

He didn’t want piecemeal, he didn’t want technicians who had never boated, he didn’t want to have to project-manage somebody else to fix his boat, he just wanted to spend more time on his sailboat…

He couldn’t find what he was looking for. So Jeff did it himself.

What happens when professional expertise and a passion for boating meet? Well, fortunately for those of us who lack his expertise, Jeff was inspired to start Pacific Yacht Systems.

After PYS installed a backup battery and a GPS system that I can trust, says Don,  I feel more comfortable when I’m out on the water. PYS is great.

Q: I just re-read your excellent article on galvanic isolators. I was installing a "Smart Plug" on my PT 38 trawler and was horrified to find that I had one of those boats where someone in the past had simply not installed the ground wire. From your article, do I understand correctly that the isolator simply is installed in the ground line (ie. ground line from boat to isolator , then isolator to the ground connector of the plug)? You also mentioned having "fail-safe" isolators. How would I know if the isolator fails in the future, assuming failure is a possibility?
