Come out to the 2012 Vancouver International Boat Show!

Vancouver’s 50th annual boat show runs from Feb 8th-Feb 12th, offering a packed schedule of fun and informative activities and seminars. You don’t want to miss watching Duma, the waterskiing dog, or hearing the adventures of Zac Sunderland, the youngest solo sailor to circumnavigate the globe at the age of 16. Join Jeff Cote from PYS at his easy-to-follow presentations geared for beginners, tech savvy, and DIY experts alike. Catch his presentations at these dates and times:

Thurs, Feb 9 – 7:00 pm on Stage 1 – Choosing Your Navigation System
Fri, Feb 10 – 7:00 pm on Stage 1 – Electrical 101: Making Sense of Your Systems
Sat, Feb. 11 – 2:30 pm on Stage 2– Choosing Your Navigation System
Sun, Feb. 12 – 3:30 pm on Stage 2 – Electrical 101: Making Sense of Your Systems

The boat show is taking place at two locations: indoors at BC Place and on the water at Granville Island Maritime Market and Marina. The hours are 11am to 9pm Wednesday to Friday, 10am to 7pm on Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. The in-water venue closes daily at 5pm. For more information, check out the website here.

Check Out The 2012 Seattle Boat Show!

This January 27-February 5 exercise your right to boat at the 2012 Seattle Boat Show, taking place at CenturyLink Field and South Lake Union.

The Seattle boat show is the largest boat show on the West Coast. There are going to be some great exhibitors, seminars on boating and fishing, and contests. Definitely a boat show worth making the trip for!

Hours are as follow:
CenturyLink Field:
Monday - Thursday: 11AM - 8PM
Fridays: 11AM - 9PM
Saturdays: 10AM - 8PM
Sundays: 10AM - 6PM*

South Lake Union:
WEEKDAYS: 11AM - 5PM
WEEKENDS: 10AM - 5PM*
* THE SHOW WILL CLOSE AT 4PM ON SUNDAY FEB. 5

Although PYS does not sell products, we can keep you better informed and maybe even help you in making your purchase decisions.

Consequently, we created the Product Reviews section of our website, which currently includes reviews of over 100 marine electrical and electronics products. Each product review includes a product description and a list of pros and cons, submitted by the experts at PYS and the online boating community.

The 5th Annual Boat Show at Mosquito Creek Marina

On track to becoming Vancouver's largest floating boat show, the Mosquito Creek annual boat show brings families, boaters, buyers, and vendors together for a weekend of fun. This year the boat show will be held from September 22-25 and at PYS we've already signed up for a booth! The Duck-Off, one of the events at the boat show, sounds particularly awesome (read about it in the September Pacific Yachting!). The hours are:

Thursday 22 and Friday 23: 12-6
Saturday 24: 10-6
Sunday 25: 10-4

Vancouver Wooden Boat Show

The Vancouver Wooden Boat Show is held at Granville Island in August each year, this year the festival dates are August 25-28. This popular event was first created for Expo 86, and highlights the rich maritime heritage of Vancouver. The festival runs from 10am-5pm daily and boat owners will be aboard their vessels from 11am-3pm to chat and give tours of their beautiful wooden boats.

Boaters are also encouraged to participate in the boat show and bring along their own wooden boats! Read more here.




Raymarine Mobile Showroom

Interested to learn about the latest in boating electronics? The Raymarine Mobile Showroom is coming to six BC locations this July. The shows provide customers with the opportunity to try out products and ask questions about which devices are best for their specific boating needs.

PYS Open House!

PYS is holding an Open House on May 28th from 11am - 2pm to welcome everyone to our new facility in Richmond and bring the local boating community together. Stop by to enjoy the complimentary BBQ, meet the PYS team, and kick off the 2011 boating season! The event will be held in the Skyline Marina by the PYS office, 8031 River Road, Richmond.




PYS has a new monthly column in Pacific Yachting!

As of this month PYS officially has a regular column, aptly named Tech Talk, in Pacific Yachting magazine. The column discusses topics related to the changing world of technology and boating, and how electronics and electrical systems help create a safe and enjoyable boating experience. We're extremely excited about this opportunity and hope you check out our article each month! Read more in our blog.  




PYS now a Garmin Marine Service Center!

PYS is proud to be Canada’s first and only Garmin Marine Service Center. Canadian Garmin customers can now enjoy Garmin’s great service with shorter waiting periods and no border hassles. PYS electronics engineer techs are Garmin certified with the ability to service Garmin marine products directly in house. Your Garmin marine products can now be dropped off or shipped to our service center in Richmond BC.

From January 21st to the 30th, 2011, the Seattle Boat Show is the West Coast's Largest Boat Show. Look for Pacific Yacht Systems at the show.




NMEA Marine Electronics Installers 2011

Not only does PYS strictly follow the standards set out by the Nation Marine Electronics Association (NMEA), we teach it.This January, from the 12th to the 14th, PYS will be hosting the next session of NMEA Basic and Advanced Marine Electronics Installer (MEI) and NMEA 2000 courses, in Vancouver. Please contact PYS for more information.




Business is booming at Pacific Yacht Systems

The PYS team is pleased to announce its relocation to Skyline Marina in Richmond, BC, a larger space that is centrally located. From here we can conveniently service the boating community throughout the Lower Mainland. The marina also offers haul-out services and docking slips, should you choose to bring your vessel to us.
